Duquesne University is a private, coeducational university located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Our tree-lined, 48-acre campus sits on a high bluff above downtown. You can glimpse many of the city's natural features and 88 distinct neighborhoods from campus.

A sense of balance pervades Duquesne University. You will encounter that balance in our nearly equal numbers of undergraduate (5,907) and graduate/professional (4,461) students; or in the reciprocal relationship between teaching, research and consulting maintained by our faculty. We offer an urban experience buffered by a small, community-centered campus. Our students confirm that this is a great place to seek and find transforming experiences.

MIND, HEART AND SPIRIT

At Duquesne, students apply mind, heart and spirit, and achieve career goals by building on a strong moral and ethical foundation.

Founded by members of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit (the Spiritans), our Mission is to serve God by serving students from all backgrounds. Here, all religious traditions are honored and supported in an environment of diversity, learning and giving. Although we are Catholic in our founding, more than half of Duquesne's students are non-Catholic.

Duquesne University, the world's only Spiritan University, is one of America's leading Catholic institutions, with a worldwide reputation of excellence in liberal and professional education.

DIVERSITY

Duquesne comprises a diverse population, including:

  • Students from all 50 states and more than 90 countries
  • Men and women from urban and rural areas, representing a wide range of faiths, races and socio-economic backgrounds.

TOP THREE IN BUSINESS ETHICS

Duquesne's John F. Donahue Graduate School of Business has been identified as one of only three schools scoring in the highest category of ethics content in a broad academic survey.

The study, conducted by Academy of Management Learning and Education, a well-regarded interdisciplinary management journal, surveyed 183 business schools.

All three of the high-scoring universities - Duquesne, Georgetown and Notre Dame - are Roman Catholic institutions.

Duquesne's graduate program was distinguished because MBA students must complete an applied business ethics course, and can also take electives in the areas of information ethics, organizational ethics and global ethics.

The sampling showed 87 percent of the 183 business schools surveyed scored in the bottom half of the ethics content scale because they had only one required or elective business ethics course or none at all.
